Apex FAQ

What does this mean moving forward?

Moving forward by partnering with The Gregg Young Sports Campus and Tekkers Soccer, Apex will be calling the Gregg Young Sports Campus their home for training sessions. During the Spring Summer & Fall months Apex will be training in the outdoor facility. During the winter months all trainings and opportunities will be hosted at the Sportsplex Norwalk facility currently being built at the Gregg Young Sports Campus (North of the outdoor turf fields).

will this Affect future club fees?

Yes, there will be an increase in club fees moving forward. As our costs have continued to increase, a fee increase would have been necessary even if we were to stay independent. The increase will give us the ability to train consistently at a state-of-the-art facility during the Spring, Summer & Fall, a place to call home for our winter training programs, increased player opportunities throughout the offseason at a discounted rate for Apex players, and increase the overall player experience throughout the season.

DId club fees increase last year?

Club fees have not changed for several years for Select, Academy, & Rec. Last year, we began to add Select tournament fees in the upfront cost to cover the guaranteed tournaments throughout the season, but the club fee structure has not changed.

What has impacted the change in club fees?

The reasoning for the price change is due to various reasons that date back to 2020. Some of the pricing has changed due to:

  • Iowa Soccer Association Fees

  • Referee Fees

  • Cost of portable lights throughout the Spring and Fall

  • Tournament Fees

  • Equipment (Goals, Balls, Pinnies)

These fees are outside of Apex control but all are essential in continuing to provide a high level experience for all players a part of our club.

Apex has also made the decision to partner with a top of the line facility and Tekkers Soccer to provide players with additional opportunities throughout the off seasons and throughout the spring and fall season.

What will the new summer and winter programming cost?

The summer and winter programming with vary based on what is being offered for each individual age group. All summer and winter programming is open to anyone and everyone in the community. As part of being a valued member of the Apex Soccer family all additional programming will have a discounted price for club members.

who is Tekkers Soccer?

Tekkers Soccer is a top training provider located in the Des Moines Metro area. Tekkers has three locations where they offer trainings out of. Sportsplex West-Waukee, SportsIowa-Ames, and The Gregg Young Sports Campus-Norwalk.

Tekkers Soccer has worked with players across all skill sets and clubs throughout the Des Moines Metro and will continue to provide top tier training to club players throughout the area.

Tekkers Soccer will be working alongside others in the Norwalk community and Apex staff to offer a night of training that is focused on creating a unique experience for players that they would not get in a normal team setting. Sessions will be based around positionally specific groups giving players an opportunity to work on their technique for positionally specific work with other players.

wILL my player get more opportunities throughout the year?

The goal of partnering with the Gregg Young Sports Campus and Tekkers Soccer was solely based on bolstering the opportunities we can provide players. By partnering with the new state-of-the-art facility in Norwalk we will now have the opportunity to run additional programming throughout the winter and summer months for players to take part in.

Why did Apex feel they needed to make this change?

The following are reasons as to why Apex Soccer Academy felt the need to make a change:Need for more space - lack of quality space at McAninch for training and games, and no plans by the City to expand shortly

  • The club is growing in numbers and we want to align ourselves with an organization that will allow us to meet our goals for future growth

  • Building our complex would take years and we don’t have that level of funding

  • Top new Indoor training space in Norwalk for team training and winter programming

  • Need more professional help managing the club as we grow

    • Challenging to get others to volunteer

    • Need long-term commitment from those running the club

    • Accounting and legal services

  • Increasing costs for field rental, light rental, equipment
